I have been seeing little blurbs here and there all over the internet about Hows Darcy Lange, is he gonna ride? Is he Okay?
So rather than speculate or search around the net any further, i decided to ask him myself. So AVMX and everyone else who wants to know...Here it is..

AVMX: So first and Foremost, I want to thank you for taking the time to do this. After posting the Interview I did with Dusty Klatt last season, and having taken your & colton’s riding clinic I was completely bombarded with questions about you. So although I’m sure your tired of the inevitable question, I have to ask, on behalf of everyone. How is Darcy Lange’s Health?

DL: Everything thing for me is 100% I just have to get a check up every year the doc said chances of it (cancer)coming back are slim.

AVMX:I hear you are getting Married in June, so Congrats are in order & I guess there goes the questions about the Monster energy girls right out the door, so moving on to…Beside’s tying the knot, What are your plans for 2009?

DL: Not much, just working for Ally's dad. Been pretty busy around the house and yard cause were getting married in our back yard. probably get a bike once I get all caught up.

AVMX: I heard you turned down a ride with San Manual for 09, and have officially retired? True? What was the thought process going into this?

DL: It was a tough call, as much as I wanted to ride for them I just didn't want to jump into Supercross. I was starting from scratch and I had to be ready for the U.S. open. I knew I wouldn't be ready in time so from there I thought about doing arenacross. When the time came some people were doubting me and I finally said, i didn't need to prove anything.

AVMX: You certainly don't. So your still just chillin and enjoying life?

DL: Yeah everything is going good. Weather's getting nicer, almost time to be at the lake.

AVMX: Having taken one of your riding clinics, I can tell you are in it for the kids, and for the sport. I can also tell you that the kids really look up to you and take everything you say as gospel, and apply it to the track.

How old were you when you first started riding, what was your first bike and when did you know that you were addicted?

DL: I think I was 4 and my dad brought me home a yamaha 50. Thats all i wanted to do is ride, but my dad worked in camp and i was only allowed to ride when he was home. I didnt start racing till 94 and after the first race my whole family was hooked.Even my grandparents would follow us across canada once I turnd pro.

AVMX: Who do you want to see take the top of the podium Reed, Stewart or indifferent?

DL: Dont matter as long as its a good race

AVMX: Your from the Island, did you get picked on, in the American Circuit for being Canadian? And do they do the "so your from canada eh?" routine?

DL: Ya Eh.. It was a little tough the first few years had a couple people call us stupid canadians not saying any names(Denny and Don stephensen) but it got better we laugh about in know.

AVMX: Being from Western canada, and having such diverse terrain at your disposal, do you think this helped with your skills?

DL: For sure. Just the open areas to ride. I have rode from my house to go riding my whole life, as to when you get to california not a chance.

AVMX: Favorite track to ride? If you could ride anywhere in the world, no matter how ridiculous, where would it be?

DL: I have no clue mabe the dunes all my buddies go down there but it was always when I was racing so i didnt want to get hurt

AVMX: That makes sense, so speaking of getting hurt, Worst wipe out?

DL: Probably kamloops when I broke my back or the St. Louis supercross.

AVMX: Advice for those up and coming Mx’ers of the next generation?

DL: Just gotta put your mind to it youll get out what you put in.

AVMX: Are we going to see Darcy Lange on the Island circuit this season? And if no, can I have your bike?

DL: haha. Ya Im gonna get a bike again soon and start riding now the weathers getting nice. Probably not till after the wedding.

Thank you very much for your time, congrats again to you and your fiancé, best wishes from all of us at AVMX, and hope to see you out at the track soon, as it is always a pleasure to see you ride.

DL: Thanks

Cheers, Jason Samson :AVMX
